Is TAM an academy or school?

No, we are not a school. We provide a-la-carte classes over a variety of subjects that meet our student’s interests and/or desires for both the homeschool and traditional students. Our mini-mesters are offered in 6-week sessions. We offer a variety of homeschool classes (secular/non-religious & Christian), as well as are inclusive/secular after-school classes to allow students and families from all backgrounds to feel welcomed and invited.

Unfortunately no. It’s a one-time fee that covers any and all classes your student may sign up for now and in the near future, including our insurance. We are striving to build a sense of community within TAM and those fees help contribute to being able to provide resources for that very same purpose. Unless you catch our special sign-up windows throughout the year… (^.^)

Can we just sign up for classes without my child becoming a member/waive the annual member/ registration fee?

Do you offer refunds if we miss or do not attend classes?

Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds under these circumstances. We use your payment to guarantee our salaries, rental contracts, supply fees, and other administrative fees for the course.

We also take pride in keeping our class sizes small because we feel this creates a better environment for students and teachers. For this reason, we depend on each student’s tuition to cover our costs.

If you contact us 7 days prior to the first day of classes, we will issue you a full refund of your course registration minus a supply fee of $20 for materials that we purchased in advance. The supply fee and registration fee are non-refundable, even if you decide not to attend TAM after registering. Our small classes fill up very quickly and we turn people away due to full classes. Your payment is a commitment to the best of your knowledge that your student will take that spot for the entire session.

If my child changes their mind about a class or if it gets cancelled, will I get a refund?

Can we visit?

Yes, anytime. We ask that you call and make an appointment, just to make sure we have someone available to answer any questions and/or concerns.

What is TAM’s class cancellation policy for inclement weather?

TAM follows the Gwinnett County School System for all class cancellations due to inclement weather. Our teachers have options of offering refunds or make up days for missed classes due to these circumstances. Please be sure to check your local news/radio stations, website, and/or our Facebook Page for details.

Can I volunteer as a parent?

Sure, we’d love to have you. We do require all volunteers to complete a background check and fingerprint check prior to assisting us with our students. This is to ensure and put parents at ease for those who decide to pay for the unattended service fee.

We suggest that you have your child bring a snack or lunch with them to our classes if they plan to stay for 2 or more classes. We also have an in-house café that sells treats and drinks ranging from 50¢ - $1 dollar that are available for purchase. We allow snacks to be eaten before dismissal of each class.

Please note we have a strict policy against sharing food amongst students as for safety of those with food allergies. This policy also restricts students from purchasing snacks without an adult present from the in-house café that have disclosed such allergies for extra safety precautions. Also, note that students are not allowed to bring snacks that have/consist of peanut butter. This is help protect students with severe peanut allergies.

Does my child need to bring A snack?

Can I drop off my child for classes?

Unfortunately, the short answer is no. A parent and/or guardian must be present at all times while students are in attendance of our courses. The only exception are students who are teen drivers that are responsible for driving themselves to class. A copy of the teen driver’s license must be on file with written authorization from enrolling parent. Peers aren’t allowed to ride with student drivers unless both authorized and specified by both family’s parents in their separate enrollment packet. The Academic Medics shall not be held liable for any damages and/or injuries incurred by student drivers on premise or while in transit to and/or from campus.

Homework, grades, and assignments?

Please check the course descriptions under our “Course Offerings for This Semester” page to find out whether or not the course will require some time and effort outside of class. Our 6-week session courses do not assign “graded assignments”, but instead participation assignments.

We do ask for all of our students to partake in the requested assignments for the course as many of the courses require peers to share, critique, and review each others works in order to participate and/or prepare for the end of course performance.

We ask all students to dress modestly as we are located in an executive office suite with other operating businesses throughout the day. This being said the following clothing is not deemed acceptable for the environment: clothing with profanity and/or promoting hate speech/propaganda, baggy/saggy pants, pajamas (PJs), fish nets, sleeveless shirts/tank tops/camisoles, all shorts/skirts/dresses must come down to at least fingertips when arms are extended to sides, leggings must be worn with tops following the same rule as short/skirts/dresses, clothing that shows midriff and/or cleavage, and the liking. Instructors are at liberty to enforce this policy at any time. Students who are not dressed appropriately will be dismissed for the day. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you as we strive to create and maintain a conducive learning environment for all of our students.

What is TAM’s Sick Policy?

We ask that all students that have episodes of fevers, vomiting, colds/flu-like symptoms within the past 48 hours, and/or any communicable diseases within the 14 days (example: chicken pox) please stay home and return once healthy again. This is to prevent spreading of germs throughout our community as well as prevent exposure of students that may or may not be immunized to such diseases from getting ill. The best policy: treat others the way you’d like to be treated (and nobody wants to be treated with germs-eek!).
